IT Support Engineer (1st / 2nd Line)
Location: Gloucester (Hybrid working)
Day Rate: Up to £230 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: 3 months
Our client, a leading organisation in their sector, is hiring an IT Support Engineer to provide 1st and 2nd line support across their IT infrastructure.
This is a great opportunity to join a busy IT environment, supporting day-to-day operations while gaining exposure to infrastructure, networking, and security technologies.
What you’ll do
- Provide 1st and 2nd line support across hardware, software, and user issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents across desktops, servers, and networks
- Support core infrastructure, including servers and cloud-based services
- Assist with basic firewall configuration and network troubleshooting
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access via Active Directory
- Escalate complex issues to senior engineers where required
You’ll work closely with internal IT teams and stakeholders to ensure a reliable and responsive IT service.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in a 1st / 2nd line support role
- Strong troubleshooting skills within Windows environments
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
- Exposure to firewall technologies and basic security principles
- Experience with Active Directory and user administration
