Location: Hereford (Office Based + Client Visits)

Salary: Up to £35,000 + Electric Company Vehicle & Excellent Benefits

I’m recruiting on behalf of a growing and well-respected IT services provider based in Hereford, who are looking for a confident and capable IT Field Engineer to join their expanding technical team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on the road, working face-to-face with clients, and solving a wide variety of technical issues in real-time. You’ll spend around 90% of your time on client sites across the region, with the rest of your week in the office supporting remote work or project planning.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing high-quality, on-site IT support to a diverse client base
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining desktops, laptops, printers, servers, and networking hardware
  • Supporting and maintaining Microsoft 365 and other cloud-based environments
  • Troubleshooting LAN/WAN, router, switch, and firewall issues
  • Performing regular maintenance, patching, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Keeping accurate technical documentation of client systems and site visits
  • Offering remote support when needed, especially during quieter periods
  • Building strong client relationships through excellent communication and service delivery

What you’ll need:

  • Proven experience in an IT Field Engineer or 2nd Line/Desktop Support role
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Windows 10/11, Windows Server (2016–2022)
  • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
  • Microsoft 365 admin centre, Exchange Online, Intune
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, switches, routers, firewalls)
  • Confident in hardware troubleshooting across devices and peripherals
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel daily to client sites

Nice to have (but not essential):

  • Certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, or VMware
  • Experience with virtualisation (Hyper-V or VMware)
  • Familiarity with backup tools (e.g., Veeam, Barracuda)
  • Previous use of RMM tools (ConnectWise, ITBoost)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Azure AD

Please note: This is a full-time, Monday–Friday, site-based role in Hereford, with regular travel to customer locations using the provided electric company vehicle.
