Our Basingstoke based client, a leading technical and support company with a core focus across the legal sector, is looking for their next ICT apprentice. Having a history of successfully developing apprentices, this opportunity presents a true and vibrant career pathway into the technology sector.
Please note this is an apprenticeship. As a result if you already have extensive experience in 1st Line support, or qualifications this position is not applicable.
Role overview
The Helpdesk Engineer Apprentice will provide first-line IT support to our client base while developing practical technical, customer service and professional skills through their apprenticeship. The role includes responding to support requests, troubleshooting issues, maintaining clear communication and working with experienced colleagues to deliver a high-quality service.
Communication, initiative and problem-solving are just as important as technical ability. The successful candidate will be comfortable speaking with people, asking effective questions, taking ownership and learning from unfamiliar situations.
The ideal candidate will enjoy helping people, be naturally curious, take initiative and be willing to learn. We are looking for someone who is confident communicating with clients and colleagues and can develop into a trusted IT professional.
Working arrangements
This is an office-based role in Basingstoke, Monday to Friday.
Occasional travel to customer sites, including locations in London, will be required.
All approved business travel and reasonable expenses will be paid in accordance with company policy.
The apprentice must be comfortable working directly with customers and representing Workplace Connect professionally.
Key responsibilities
· Provide a friendly and professional first point of contact for clients by telephone, email and the service desk.
· Log, manage and progress support requests, keeping clients informed throughout.
· Use a logical approach to investigate and resolve a broad range of day-to-day IT issues.
· Escalate issues appropriately while retaining ownership of client communication.
· Follow company procedures for service delivery, security, documentation and record keeping.
· Assist colleagues with customer projects, installations and on-site support when required.
· Maintain accurate client and technical documentation.
· Identify potential issues and opportunities to improve the client experience or internal processes.
· Complete apprenticeship training, coursework, reviews and assessments within the required timescales.
· Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role and level of development.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to speak to clients and explain information clearly.
· A friendly, patient and professional approach to customer service.
· A proactive attitude, with the initiative to look for answers, improvements and next steps.
· A logical and methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
· Good listening skills and the ability to ask clear, relevant questions.
· Ownership and accountability, including following tasks through to completion.
· Good organisation, attention to detail and willingness to follow established processes.
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team and ask for support when needed.
· Genuine enthusiasm for technology, learning and continuous development.
· Comfortable travelling to customer sites, including London, when required.

- Blended on/off the job training and location to be confirmed
- Full-time employment is expected once the apprenticeship is complete
