Role Overview
This strategic role has been created to enhance the organisation's automation and operational capabilities amid expanding digital initiatives. As a key member of the team, you will influence technical decisions and contribute to the organisation's digital transformation by implementing best practices and ensuring resilient delivery pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimise cloud-native infrastructure, including Kubernetes clusters and containerised environments.
- Design, implement, and refine continuous integration and delivery pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm, or similar technologies.
- Drive automation initiatives for environment provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure system reliability and security.
- Support incident investigations and contribute to observability strategies involving metrics, logs, and tracing.
- Lead or contribute to architectural discussions around system scalability, security, and best practices.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Proven expertise with cloud-native technologies, particularly Kubernetes, including deployments, networking, and operator management.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and deploying CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles, including IaC, environment parity, and automation strategies.
- Proficiency in Scripting languages such as Python for automation and tooling.
- Demonstrable experience with system monitoring and observability platforms.
- Solid understanding of security automation practices and experience working with modern infrastructure patterns.
- Active SC clearance (Security Check) is mandatory for this role.
- Excellent documentation skills with a focus on clarity and maintainability.
- Strong communicator and collaborator, comfortable engaging in technical discussions and contributing to team goals.
Desirable Skills & Additional Experience
- Experience with GitOps tools like ArgoCD or Flux.
- Familiarity with SRE practices, including SLIs and SLOs.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures or message brokers.
- Experience with security automation and DevSecOps frameworks.
- Understanding of on-premises versus cloud infrastructure models.
