- Defence / National Security technology An established UK engineering and technology organisation supporting defence and national security customers is hiring a Field Service Engineer to provide hands-on support for deployed systems across UK sites. This is an on-site role, typically based around Surrey and Hampshire, with frequent customer-site activity. What you'll be doing Carry out preventative and corrective engineering visits (sometimes at short notice): patching, updating, auditing and repairing customer systems/products. Support military exercises, demonstrations, testing and customer acceptance testing for new deliveries. Deliver operator/maintainer training when required. Provide remote 1st/2nd line support when issues are logged. Join an on-call 24/7 rota (1 week on / 3 weeks off) with potential requirement to attend site at short notice. Install, configure and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022). Support infrastructure and networking: firewalls (hardware/software), virtualisation (VMware ESXi / Hyper-V), LAN/WAN/VLAN. Complete structured fault-finding and root cause analysis (down to board/component level where needed) and produce clear technical documentation (fault reports, RMAs, conformance paperwork, etc.). What we're looking for Degree or HND/HNC in an engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience). Strong background supporting hardware IT infrastructure in a military/defence context (MoD exposure). Electronic Warfare experience is highly desirable Comfortable working across different security classifications and in regulated, low-volume/high-value environments. Solid troubleshooting mindset and calm under pressure (especially during on-call and exercise support). xkybehq Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
