GCP Architect

One of my consultancy clients are looking for a Google Cloud Architect to join on a permanent basis

Role: GCP Architect
Salary: £88k - £110k DOE
Clearance: Active SC or Eligible for SC clearance
Location: Hybrid Central London - need by need basis so you must be flexible on your onsite commitment - this could be 2 times a week or 2 times a month Depending on project demand and will vary

Your role

Will be focused on solving complex technology challenges and modernising Legacy systems. As a Technical Lead, you'll design and deliver cloud-based solutions, working either independently or as part of an agile team.

You'll have ownership of delivery, from design through to production, with the autonomy to shape engineering practices, tooling, and ways of working. Collaboration, DevOps principles, and test automation are central to how teams operate.

You'll also play a key role in mentoring others, sharing knowledge, and contributing to team growth.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the design and delivery of cloud solutions using modern architectures
  • Own technical direction and ensure successful project outcomes
  • Work closely with stakeholders and act as a key client-facing contact
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering best practices
  • Support and mentor engineers across teams
  • Contribute to proposals and solution design for new opportunities

What We're Looking For

  • Strong background in software engineering or DevOps
  • Experience with cloud platforms (ideally Google Cloud, but others welcome)
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Java, Python, Kubernetes, Terraform
  • Experience designing scalable, secure, and resilient systems
  • Familiarity with microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience working in agile teams and delivering iterative releases

Nice to Have

  • Experience with serverless and container platforms
  • Exposure to data platforms and pipelines (eg SQL, streaming, analytics tools)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing (TDD/BDD), and DevOps practices
  • Cloud certifications (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Exposure to AI/ML tools and techniques

Key Skills:

  • Cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
  • Containers & serverless (Kubernetes, Docker, Functions)
  • Data & analytics tools (SQL, distributed data systems)
  • Languages: Java, Python, JavaScript
  • CI/CD & tooling (eg Jenkins or similar
