Legal & Compliance Officer

Legal and Compliance Officer - Hybrid (Edinburgh)

We're working with a growing, well-established fintech company that develops software for financial institutions. They're now looking for a Legal and Compliance Officer to take ownership of contract negotiations and support key compliance processes across the business.

This is a hands-on role where you'll manage legal risk, advise on regulatory matters, and help shape governance as the company scales. You'll be part of a collaborative, driven team with real influence on how things are run.

What You'll Do:

* Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (eg software licenses, NDAs, service contracts)

* Advise leadership on legal and regulatory issues related to products, clients, and international growth

* Monitor and interpret legal developments across banking, fintech, and data protection (eg UK GDPR)

* Support or lead ISO27001 and ISO9001 compliance activities, including audits and documentation

What We're Looking For:

* Ideally a qualified solicitor or legal professional with strong post-qualification experience

* Solid background in commercial contracts and legal risk management

* Experience working within or advising on compliance frameworks

* Strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail

* (Bonus) Experience in financial services, ISO standards, or fintech regulation (eg PRA, FCA)

Location:

Hybrid - Edinburgh (3-4 days onsite to start)

Salary:

£40,000 - £60,000 depending on experience - open to discussion
