Cloud Security Engineer (Azure Focus)
Location: Remote - UK (occasional travel to sites in the Midlands)
Clearance: Active SC clearance required (DV eligible)
Salary: Up to £85,000 per annum
Overview
We are supporting a UK-based technology company that develops secure, cloud-native platforms used in sensitive and high-assurance environments. They are seeking a Cloud Security Engineer with strong Azure experience to help protect and strengthen their cloud infrastructure.
The Role
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud security controls across Azure environments, while helping improve detection, response, and automation capabilities. This role combines hands-on engineering with operational security and offers exposure across cloud, infrastructure, and containerised systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement security controls across Azure infrastructure and services
Develop automation to enforce security standards and improve operational efficiency
Implement and manage identity and access controls
Secure Infrastructure-as-Code deployments using Terraform or Bicep
Strengthen security across Kubernetes environments and CI/CD pipelines
Develop and improve detection capabilities using SIEM and cloud-native tooling
Maintain logging, monitoring, and alerting pipelines
Identify and remediate vulnerabilities across cloud and endpoint systems
Maintain security documentation, procedures, and runbooks
Required Experience
3+ years in cloud security engineering or security operations
Hands-on experience securing Microsoft Azure environments
Experience working with SIEM platforms (Microsoft Sentinel preferred)
Strong incident response and investigation experience
Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, or similar)
Experience securing containers and Kubernetes environments
Scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
Strong understanding of modern security threats, attack techniques, and defence strategies
Desirable
Azure security certifications (AZ-500, SC-200, SC-300 or similar)
Experience with cloud-native security tooling such as Defender for Cloud
Familiarity with recognised incident response frameworks
