Support Engineer (Clinical Systems) - £40k - Remote

Role: Systems Support Engineer (Clinical Systems)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (DOE)
Travel: Remote (UK-based) with quarterly travel to London (expensed)

iO Associates are currently working with a specialist healthtech organisation that is looking to appoint a Systems Support Engineer to join their highly collaborative support team on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in NHS IT or clinical systems support who is looking to move into a more specialist, niche environment working closely with healthcare applications, clinical workflows and integration technologies.

The role sits within a close-knit support function supporting a small customer base. These are not generic IT service desk issues, but instead focused on clinical application behaviour, integration alerts and patient workflow-related queries within a highly structured, process-driven environment.

You'll get the opportunity to work with healthcare integration standards such as HL7 and DICOM, supported by a Mirth integration engine. You will spend time reviewing logs, investigating errors and understanding how clinical data flows through systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing 1st and 2nd line support
  • Investigating and resolving application and workflow-related incidents
  • Reviewing logs, error messages and system alerts to identify root causes
  • Supporting integration-related queries across HL7 and DICOM environments
  • Working within structured, documented processes
  • Collaborating with internal technical teams on more complex issues
  • Understanding and interpreting clinical workflows and patient data pathways
  • Ensuring all tickets are accurately documented and resolved within SLA

Skills:

  • Experience within NHS IT, clinical systems or healthcare application support environments
  • Understand clinical workflows and healthcare terminology
  • Interpret and investigate application issues logically
  • Work within structured, process-driven environments
  • Service desk or support background to troubleshoot effectively
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and clinical users
  • Work independently within a small, collaborative team

SQL exposure is desirable for basic data understanding and investigation purposes, but there is no expectation for advanced querying or development skills.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience
  • Remote working
  • Small, specialist support team with a collaborative culture
  • Exposure to clinical systems, HL7, DICOM and integration environments
  • Structured, process-led environment with strong documentation
  • Opportunity to develop within a growing organisation
  • Occasional quarterly meet-ups (fully expensed)

If you're currently in a hands-on NHS clinical systems support role (eg PACS, RIS, EPR support or service desk with clinical applications exposure) and have experience in troubleshooting system issues, please don't hesitate to apply now!
