Lead / Senior Software Engineer - Insurance  Hybrid Working - City of London  A growing specialist insurance underwriter focused on complex property and catastrophe-driven risks is bringing its technology capability in-house. This is a rare opportunity to join as the first in-house Software Engineer, with real ownership and a clear pathway into future technical leadership.The Role You’ll play a key role in modernising core systems, including rebuilding pricing engines and algorithms, while advising senior stakeholders and shaping long-term technical direction.What You’ll Do• Rebuild and enhance pricing systems and algorithms• Design and develop full-stack solutions• Contribute to system design and solution architecture• Build and integrate APIs in a microservices environment• Partner closely with senior stakeholders• Collaborate with international teams Skills & Experience• Strong full-stack engineering background• Experience with C#, Python and SQL (R beneficial)• Exposure to microservices and API-led architectures• Good system design capability• Insurance or reinsurance experience is a must About You• Comfortable being the first engineer in a growing business• Confident communicator with senior stakeholders• Interested in progressing into broader technical leadership over time
