Project Manager - 18 Month FTC
Role: Project Manager | Technology & Change Delivery (London Insurance Market) Salary: £70,000-£90,000 Location: City of London, Hybrid The Company This role sits within a growing specialty insurance provider operating across both Lloyd’s and international markets. This is an exciting opportunity for someone deeply familiar with the Lloyd’s and London Market landscape who is eager to drive lasting operational change through effective technology management.The Project Manager will take ownership of critical initiatives across the enterprise, delivering technology and operational change projects that support strategic goals. Working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders, the role ensures project outcomes are aligned to business needs and delivered with clarity, rigour, and control.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of complex, cross-functional projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring agreed objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.
- Act as a trusted delivery partner to the business, maintaining close collaboration with stakeholders across underwriting, operations, technology, and corporate functions.
- Support the modernisation of core systems, platforms, and processes through structured delivery and change management.
- Manage governance processes including project boards, status reporting, and risk and issue tracking (RAID).
- Prepare and maintain key project documentation such as business cases, plans, charters, and benefit realisation reports.
- Engage with third-party suppliers and technology partners to ensure delivery meets contractual standards and aligns with internal frameworks.
- Promote best practice in project delivery, risk management, and stakeholder engagement across the portfolio.
- Track project interdependencies and ensure alignment with wider programmes and strategic initiatives.
- Champion delivery discipline while being adaptable in approach depending on project type, stakeholder group, and delivery method.
- Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and techniques
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and requirements
- High level of attention to detail and quality standards
- Skills in planning, coordinating and delivering complex change initiatives across the organisation, in line with strategic objectives and stakeholder needs
- Skills in leading, motivating and supporting a team, ensuring effective governance, risk management, quality assurance, communication and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
- Skills in identifying, assessing and managing risks and issues that may affect project delivery or benefits realisation
- skills in monitoring and reporting on progress, performance and benefits to the senior management and relevant stakeholders
- Skills in managing and resolving any conflicts or escalations that may arise within or between the project team and/or stakeholders
- Skills in evaluating and reviewing the project outcomes and lessons learned, ensuring continuous improvement and best practice.
- Over 5 years of experience delivering complex, medium-large projects/change transformation within the Lloyd's of London Insurance Market
- Formal project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM).
- Familiarity with change management and business readiness practices.
- Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies, tools and techniques
- Good working knowledge of how the London Insurance Market operates is essential, particularly reinsurance and delegated underwriting authority
