Senior Microsoft 365 Support Engineer | Private Equity (6-month Contract)

This is a hands‐on, senior L2/L3 support role in a lean Private Equity IT team. We are seeking an engineer who is fully self‐sufficient from day one and spends the majority of their time personally configuring, troubleshooting, and fixing Microsoft 365, identity, security, and endpoint issues.

This role is not suitable for candidates whose recent experience is primarily managerial, project‐coordinative, or governance‐led. You must be comfortable operating as the final technical escalation and clearly articulating what you personally configure and deliver.

Microsoft 365 is central to the environment. Users are technically literate and senior - strong judgement, confidence, and depth are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the final escalation point for complex L2/L3 incidents, owning issues end‐to‐end
  • Personally design, configure, and troubleshoot:
  • Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Defender for Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
  • Azure AD / Entra ID (Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, identity protection)
  • Intune, Autopilot, device compliance, endpoint security
  • Handle security incidents and hardening at configuration level, not policy‐only
  • Use PowerShell to automate administrative tasks and reduce operational friction
  • Support senior stakeholders directly and confidently
  • Maintain strong ITSM discipline, documentation, and audit‐ready records

Essential Experience

  • 5+ years in enterprise IT support with demonstrable L3 delivery
  • Clear, recent examples of individual hands‐on configuration across:
  • Conditional Access
  • Exchange Online and email security
  • Endpoint compliance and device enrolment
  • Ability to explain what you built, why you built it, and how it behaves in production
  • Practical PowerShell scripting experience
  • Comfortable working in small teams with no technical safety net

Highly Desirable

  • Private Equity, VC, Hedge Fund, or regulated Financial Services experience
  • Microsoft certifications (MS‐102, AZ‐104, MD‐102, SC‐300)
  • Experience operating in environments with high security, audit, and uptime expectations
  • Informed, security‐aware use of AI tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot)

Contract Details

  • Start: Target 1 June
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Rate: £60–70k permanent‐equivalent (paid as day rate)
  • Location: London | minimum 3 days on‐site

Important Note

This role requires depth over breadth. Candidates should expect to be asked how they configure systems, not just what they oversee.
