My client is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Back End service layer for a major iOS and Android travel application.
Remit
- Lead delivery of the mobile application service layer supporting iOS and Android platforms
- Provide technical leadership across engineering teams and drive engineering best practices
- Own architecture, design, development and deployment of scalable Back End services
- Lead technical governance across development teams, vendors and stakeholders
- Drive CI/CD, automation and cloud-native engineering practices
- Establish code review, release management and engineering quality standards
- Mentor engineers and lead team growth, performance and technical maturity
- Support hiring and development of engineering talent
Skills
- 10+ years software engineering experience
- 2+ years leadership experience managing engineering teams
- Strong hands-on Java 17+ or Kotlin development experience
- Strong Spring Boot and microservices architecture experience
- Experience with Gradle build automation
- Experience with GitHub Actions and/or CircleCI
- Strong cloud platform experience
- Expertise in observability, monitoring and alerting tools such as Sentry
- Swift (iOS) experience essential
- Android Kotlin experience essential
- Agile delivery experience (Scrum/Kanban)
Desirable
- Enterprise-scale application development experience
- Travel, loyalty or customer-facing product experience
- Automated testing and performance testing experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar discipline
