Head of IT Support

Our client is a specialist technology vendor serving the global investment banking and hedge fund community. They deliver high-performance platforms and mission-critical solutions used across Tier-1 banks, prime brokers, and alternative investment firms.

They are now seeking a Head of IT Support to lead and elevate their internal and external support capability. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in high-pressure, regulated environments and understands the expectations of institutional financial clients.

The Role

You will take ownership of the entire IT support function, covering both internal users and external clients. The position blends strategic leadership with hands-on technical delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

Internal Support

• Lead and manage all internal IT support activities across a growing London-based team

• Ensure uptime, performance, and security of internal systems and infrastructure

• Implement best-practice processes, tooling, and documentation

• Drive continuous improvement across service delivery and incident response

Client-Facing Support

• Act as a senior technical escalation point for external clients

• Support the deployment, configuration, and optimisation of the company’s technology solutions

• Work closely with front-office and infrastructure teams within banks and hedge funds

• Ensure service levels, regulatory expectations, and client-side operational standards are consistently met

• Build trusted relationships with senior technology stakeholders across the client base

Solution Implementation

• Lead technical implementation projects for new and existing clients

• Oversee upgrades, migrations, and integration work

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and client-success teams to deliver seamless solutions

• Ensure all deployments meet the performance, resilience, and compliance standards expected in financial markets

Required Experience

We are looking for someone who brings credibility, resilience, and deep domain knowledge.

You must have:

• Experience working in technology within investment banking or hedge funds

(e.g., trading systems, market data, infrastructure, support, or front-office platforms)

• Strong background in IT support leadership, ideally in a high-availability environment

• Hands-on technical capability across infrastructure, networks, Windows/Linux, and application support

• Experience supporting or implementing enterprise-grade solutions for financial institutions

• Ability to operate confidently with traders, quants, operations, and senior technology stakeholders

• Strong understanding of regulatory, security, and operational requirements in financial markets
