About the Role
We're looking for a bright and motivated Junior Media Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a graduate-level role that offers a rare opportunity to work directly with the technology powering one of the UK's leading News & Production broadcast facilities. You'll be involved in a wide range of activities from organising wiring teams and keeping technical documentation in order, to researching new equipment, carrying out preliminary testing, and assisting with system setup and configuration. Some tasks will require careful attention to detail and patience, while others will give you the chance to explore the latest broadcast and ICT technologies in a live environment.
The role will see you working with tools like AutoCAD, Visio, Excel, and NetBox, as well as technologies including Dante, NMOS, SMPTE ST 2110, and NDI. Along the way, you'll develop both your technical skills and your understanding of how broadcast operations are delivered in a modern, IP-driven environment. What You'll Do
- Organise and coordinate 3rd party contractors & Suppliers for installations and upgrades Maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, and asset records
- Assist with fact-finding, research, and preliminary testing for new systems
- Support the setup, configuration, and verification of broadcast and IT infrastructure
- Work with engineers to help diagnose occasional operational issues
- Use software tools (AutoCAD, Visio, Excel, NetBox) to create and update technical records
- Participate in evaluations and trials of new technologies
About You
You'll need to be organised, detail-oriented, good problem solver and motivated to learn. This role is well-suited to someone who takes pride in keeping things running efficiently and enjoys understanding how technology works behind the scenes.
You should have
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in Broadcast Technology, Media Systems, Networking, or Computer Science
- Solid ICT and networking knowledge (IP addressing, switching, routing basics)
- Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Visio, Excel, and NetBox
- Interest in modern broadcast systems including Dante, NMOS, ST 2110, and NDI
- The ability to stay focused during repetitive tasks and maintain high accuracy
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to working with others
