Senior MuleSoft Engineer

SENIOR MULESOFT ENGINEER - BEDFORDSHIRE - CONTRACT UP TO £500PD

I'm currently hiring for a Senior MuleSoft Engineer role with one of my clients - a well-established business that's investing heavily in technology to modernise and streamline its operations across Europe and the UK. This is a great opportunity to join a growing integration team and play a pivotal role in their large-scale digital transformation.

They're looking for someone who can take ownership of their MuleSoft integrations, bring deep technical expertise, and help shape how APIs and services are delivered across the business. The Opportunity:

• Take the lead on designing and developing enterprise-grade integration solutions using Mule 4 and the Anypoint Platform.
• Support a major migration project from Mule 3 on-prem to Mule 4 on CloudHub.
• Work with internal teams and external partners to drive performance, reliability, and scalability across services.
• Be a key voice in integration design and governance, contributing to architecture decisions and best practices.
• Collaborate with a high-performing technical team under the guidance of an experienced MuleSoft architect.

What They're Looking For:Core Experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on MuleSoft experience (Mule 3 & Mule 4), including integration of large-scale systems.
• Expertise in handling large data files, streaming, and batch processing.
• Strong proficiency in Java, including object-oriented design, REST API development, and performance tuning.
• Experience with DataWeave for complex data transformations.

Integration & API Skills:

• Solid knowledge of API-led connectivity, API design (REST/SOAP), and API life cycle management.
• Comfortable with API security standards such as OAuth and JWT.
• Experienced with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (MUnit), and deployment using tools like Jenkins or GitLab.

Cloud & Monitoring:

• Experience deploying MuleSoft applications to CloudHub and managing environments, scaling, and monitoring.
• Strong understanding of error handling, exception strategies, and Real Time logging/alerting.

The Project:

You'll be working on a high-impact programme building an integration layer between a new E-commerce platform and multiple internal systems. The wider tech stack includes Kafka, Salesforce, AMQ, SFTP, and web services, with a focus on API governance, reusability, and performance.
