Summary:

My market leading client are looking to secure the services of a Cloud Geospatial Solutions Architect to assist with critical project work over the coming months. Ideally coming from a strong consultancy background with public sector/GDS experience, consultants will require a strong understanding of delivering secure cloud based infrastructure to support geospatial and land data platforms (Azure preferred).

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate existing geospatial systems and platforms to determine whether they can meet technical requirements through extension, integration, or enhancement.
• Design and propose new cloud-based solutions where existing systems cannot meet capability, scalability, or performance needs.
• Collaborate with data architects, developers, and operational teams to design cloud-native or hybrid architectures aligned with agreed technology choices and strategic direction.
• Conduct cost and technical debt analysis to inform reuse versus build decisions.
• Architect and document end-to-end cloud solutions for data storage, APIs, and geospatial web services.
• Ensure integration and interoperability with upstream and downstream systems, APIs (including OGC standards based) and authentication models.
• Implement secure, scalable infrastructure for ingesting, transforming, and distributing spatial data.
• Ensure compliance with organisational, GDS, and GDPR security and data protection standards.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience architecting Azure (preferred) and/or AWS cloud solutions for geospatial or data-intensive workloads.
• Strong knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and GeoServer or equivalent spatial platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to assess, extend, or integrate existing systems, and to design and propose new architectures when required.
• Experience designing and deploying scalable spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, or similar).
• Strong analytical and communication skills to work across technical and operational domains.
