Database Administrator

Title: Database Administrator

Location: Belfast / Antrim

Type: Full Time

Salary: £50k + £6k car allowance

The Role

You’ll be joining a growing IT and cybersecurity consultancy working across complex environments in both public and private sectors.

This is not a “keep the lights on” DBA role. You’ll be expected to get stuck into real problems. Design issues. Performance bottlenecks. Messy environments that need fixing properly, not patched.

You’ll work closely with clients, their IT teams, and business stakeholders. Expect variety. Expect responsibility. Expect to be challenged.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Owning database performance, optimisation, and design decisions
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex database issues across enterprise environments
  • Scripting and implementing database changes
  • Advising clients on best practice, not only writing code
  • Working on client sites for extended periods when required
  • Supporting secure, high-availability systems in regulated environments

What They’re Looking For

  • 2+ years DBA experience in enterprise environments (SQL Server or Oracle)
  • Strong understanding of database design and performance tuning
  • Ability to solve problems end to end, not pass them on
  • Experience working with stakeholders across IT and business teams
  • Exposure to SIEM systems
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows environments
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals

Useful Extras (Not Essential)

  • Experience with software or database migrations

The Reality Check

  • You’ll need to be comfortable working on client sites
  • You’ll need to go through security clearance (up to DV level)
  • This is a hands-on role. If you prefer theory over doing, it won’t suit

What’s On Offer

  • Strong, collaborative team with deep technical experience
  • Exposure to complex, high-value projects
  • Ongoing learning and development
  • Medical cover
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Regular team events

Requirements

  • Full right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to undergo background checks
  • Preference for candidates with long-term residency in Northern Ireland due to clearance processes
