AI Automation Engineer

We are partnering with one of Europe's most ambitious AI healthcare startups, building technology to address one of society's biggest challenges: the growing gap between healthcare demand and clinical capacity.

While externally they are developing an AI-powered clinical assistant, internally they are building an AI-native company. Their vision is simple: let autonomous systems handle repetitive operational work so talented people can focus on solving meaningful problems.

They are now looking for an AI Automation Engineer to build the autonomous backbone of the business, identifying high-leverage opportunities for automation and deploying production-grade AI workflows that save teams hundreds of hours of manual effort.

What you will do:

Identify manual, repetitive, and high-impact workflows across the business that are worth automating;

Work directly with teams to understand how processes actually operate and translate them into automatable systems;

Build autonomous workflows using AI agents, MCP architectures, Claude Skills, APIs, and custom services;

Own automations end-to-end, from design and implementation through to monitoring and maintenance;

Drive adoption across non-technical teams, ensuring the systems you build become part of day-to-day operations;

Know when a successful automation should evolve into a larger platform capability and collaborate with engineering teams accordingly.

What they are looking for:

Experience automating real business processes from discovery through to production adoption;

Strong Python skills and the ability to build solutions independently;

Comfort working directly with non-technical stakeholders and extracting workflows from ambiguous requirements;

Hands-on experience with modern agentic tooling, including MCP architectures, AI workflows, and orchestration frameworks;

A strong understanding of operational reliability, monitoring, and automation maintenance;

Pragmatic mindset focused on business impact rather than building technology for technology's sake.

Tech stack:

Python

REST APIs and webhook integrations

MCP architecture

Claude Skills and agent orchestration frameworks

AI workflow and automation tooling

Internal AI platform infrastructure

Package:

£70,000 - £100,000

Opportunity to work directly with company leadership

High ownership and visibility across the organisation

Opportunity to work remotely across the UK or Spain, with offices in London and Barcelona

Why join:

This role sits at the intersection of AI, operations, and software engineering. Rather than building isolated proofs of concept, you will be responsible for deploying automations that are used every day by teams across the business.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of problems, from sales and marketing workflows to HR, operations, and healthcare processes. Every week brings a new challenge, a new system to improve, and a new opportunity to create measurable impact.

The company believes the future belongs to AI-native organisations. As one of the first hires dedicated to that mission internally, you will play a central role in defining how an entire business operates. Success will be measured not by lines of code written, but by the hours returned to teams, the efficiency unlocked, and the systems that continue running long after they are deployed.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys building, experimenting, and shipping quickly, while working at the frontier of autonomous workflows and AI-powered operations.
