Reports to: Digital Production Manager

Job Purpose

The Web Content Editor plays a key role within Web Services, supporting the delivery of high-quality, accessible and user-centred digital content. Working closely with teams across the Council, the post holder is responsible for editing, maintaining and improving website content to ensure it is accurate, consistent, up to date and compliant with Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Level AA.

The role involves proofreading content prior to publication and ensuring information is presented clearly, in the right place and at the right time, to support an excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Digital Production Manager, the post holder will:

* Edit, curate and maintain content across the Council's website* Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure content is evidence-based, user-centred and continually optimised* Support the Communications team with content for the intranet and social media* Provide guidance and support to content owners to ensure content is accessible, relevant, consistent and easy to understand* Maintain content standards, including accessibility, security, risk and reputational exposure* Identify and escalate technical issues to appropriate internal teams* Ensure compliance with GDPR, Local Authority Publication Codes and relevant legislation* Promote the value of content design and coach colleagues on best practice* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of digital communications and audience engagement

Duties

* Plan and update content work with the Digital Production Manager* Monitor website performance and analytics, taking corrective action where required* Fix broken links and errors; proofread and edit content for grammar and clarity* Log and monitor bugs to minimise impact on users* Act as a subject matter expert for Drupal CMS and related tools* Liaise with third-party suppliers* Maintain website look and feel in line with corporate standards* Respond to content enquiries and complaints within SLA* Support digital projects, business cases, reporting and risk logs* Support the creation of new websites and microsites* Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion principles are embedded* Maintain professional development and technical skills* Comply with GDPR, FOI, PECR and Information Security standards

Qualifications (Essential)* Minimum 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C) including Maths and English

Skills & Experience (Essential)* Significant experience in a similar role* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* Strong customer focus and attention to detail* Knowledge of website management, content design and UX* Experience with HTML, CSS, XML, CMS platforms and web tools* Strong understanding of accessibility, usability and analytics* Experience managing stakeholders and external suppliers* Ability to analyse web data and prioritise workload* Confident translating technical issues for non-technical users* Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively* Strong planning, risk management and delivery skills
