We’re working with a growing tech consultancy based in Leeds who have recently secured

a significant extension on a long-term government programme. This is genuinely

interesting, high-impact work focused on secure, real-time systems within a defence

setting, with a strong roadmap spanning the next couple of years.

They’re now looking for an AI-focused Python Engineer to join the team.

This role sits at the intersection of AI, mobile, and secure cloud systems. You’ll be working

on a cutting-edge application focused on military medical data and real-time

communications, helping to design and deliver intelligent features that operate reliably in

highly secure environments.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing and building Python-based AI solutions, particularly around

speech-to-text pipelines

  • Working with structured data extraction and specialised language models
  • Integrating AI capabilities into mobile and cloud platforms (supporting a

Kotlin-based app)

  • Contributing to real-time, secure communication systems
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, product, and QA teams to deliver

production-ready features

What they’re looking for:

  • Strong Python experience in a commercial environment
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML pipelines, ideally within speech processing or data

structuring

  • Experience deploying and integrating models into scalable environments
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerised workflows
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams

Nice to have:

  • Experience with WebRTC and/or XMPP
  • Exposure to military, defence, or medical datasets

Key details:

  • £450–£500 per day (some flexibility for the right person)
  • Initial 3-month contract with a high likelihood of extension (long-term programme)
  • 1 day per week onsite in Leeds with the consultancy team
  • Must be SC cleared, previously SC cleared, or eligible for SC clearance (BPSS

required before onboarding)

Interview process is a single stage, 90-minute face-to-face session in Leeds

If you’re interested in applying AI in a genuinely meaningful, real-world setting with

long-term scope, this is a great opportunity to get involved in something impactful from an

early stage.
