Product Owner
Product Owner
Location: Manchester, hybrid two days a week on-site
Industry: SaaS Scale Up
Salary: £35,000 to £45,000
I’m working with a high growth SaaS business on a Product Owner hire that is perfect for someone early in their product career who wants proper exposure, real ownership and hands on delivery experience.
This is not a “backlog admin” role. It’s an opportunity to learn the craft properly, work closely with an experienced Lead Product Owner and develop into a more senior product professional over time.
Our client builds a SaaS platform that makes risk simple. They help organisations manage risk more effectively through smart technology, structured data and meaningful reporting. They are not here to replace risk managers. They exist to amplify what they do best by giving them better tools, better visibility and better insight.
They are scaling, the product is evolving quickly, and they need someone who can step into tactical delivery work streams and help turn priorities into high quality shipped outcomes.
The Role
You’ll sit within a growing product team, reporting directly into the Lead Product Owner. Your focus will be delivery.
You’ll take defined roadmap priorities and help shape them into epics, user stories and well scoped deliverables. You’ll own smaller initiatives end to end with support, while freeing up senior product capacity for more strategic work.
You’ll be close to users, engineers and real world problems. This is hands-on product ownership in a fast paced SaaS environment.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Supporting backlog delivery and breaking down roadmap items into clear epics and user stories
- Writing high quality user stories and acceptance criteria that genuinely enable engineers to deliver effectively
- Managing and refining the backlog so items are prioritised, sized and ready for sprint planning
- Engaging with internal stakeholders and customers to capture requirements and clarify the why behind features
- Working directly with engineers during delivery to answer questions and remove ambiguity
- Supporting reprioritisation when constraints or new information emerge
- Contributing to discovery by reviewing user feedback, analytics and competitor insights
- Using product and delivery tooling to document requirements, track progress and support Agile ceremonies
You’ll be expected to manage multiple work streams, ask good questions, challenge constructively and keep momentum moving.
What They’re Looking For
This role is aimed at someone junior to mid level in their product journey.
You might currently be a Product Owner, Associate Product Owner, Junior Product Owner or Business Analyst in a digital or SaaS environment. You might have a couple of years under your belt and be ready for more responsibility. Or you may be slightly earlier in your journey but hungry to learn and grow quickly.
Key things that matter:
- Experience or exposure to product ownership within SaaS or a fast paced digital environment
- A solid understanding of Agile delivery, Scrum or Kanban
- Confidence writing user stories and acceptance criteria
- Experience working closely with engineering teams
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate between product and tech
- A willingness to be coached, take feedback and develop
- The ability to challenge appropriately and ask the right questions
- Strong organisation skills and comfort juggling delivery, discovery and stakeholder queries
Sector experience in risk management is helpful but not essential. Cultural fit, curiosity and communication are far more important.
The Environment
This is a collaborative, low ego product culture.
The Lead Product Owner is an excellent communicator who bridges product and engineering seamlessly. You’ll be mentored properly, not left to sink or swim.
It’s fast paced. The team is scaling. Delivery matters. But so does learning and development.
They value:
- Team fit over ego
- Strong communication over jargon
- Curiosity over box ticking
- Delivery over theory
They’re active in industry events, plugged into their market and serious about building a strong product function.
What You’ll Get
- £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience
- Flexibility for the right person
- Clear progression into more senior product roles
- Ongoing coaching from an experienced Lead Product Owner
- A supportive, high trust environment
- The chance to build a strong foundation in SaaS product ownership
- 30 days holiday + birthday off + bank holidays
- Private healthcare, including dental
Notice periods are flexible. They’re ready to move quickly and interviews will start as soon as we have the right shortlist.
If you’re serious about building a career in product, want real exposure to SaaS delivery and value being coached by someone who knows what good looks like, I’d love to speak with you.
Drop me a message or apply directly and I’ll talk you through the details.
