Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer (Frontend focus)

Industry: Health & Wellbeing, InsurTech

Location: Sheffield, hybrid (1 - 2 days a month on-site)

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 (potentially some wiggle room for the right person)

We're working with an incredible customer who's building genuinely meaningful products that make a real difference and they're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who's excited by the idea of joining a product led team where great engineering isn't just appreciated, it's expected.

If you love solving real problems, crafting clean, resilient software and mentoring others along the way, this is one you'll want to pay attention to.

What you'll be doing

This isn't a sit in the corner and churn tickets kind of role. You'll be hands-on, shaping and delivering high-quality solutions that push the customer's technology forward.

You'll be:

  • Building robust, reliable software with a big emphasis on observability, monitoring and making sure what you build runs smoothly in the real world.
  • Delivering new features and improvements in small, frequent deployments no long, painful release cycles here.
  • Using automated testing approaches to validate everything from brand-new features to long-standing functionality.
  • Collaborating closely with your Technical Lead to design solutions that deliver genuine value to the business and its users.
  • Spotting alternative approaches when things get in the way and navigating challenges with creativity and pragmatism.

Bring your voice, bring your ideas

One thing our customer values highly is communication. You'll be able to break down complex ideas, shape conversations with different stakeholders and make sure the team always understands the why behind what they're building.

Help others grow, too

You'll play an active part in nurturing the engineers around you, supporting mid-level and junior developers as they progress. This means championing excellent engineering practices and helping to create an environment where technical brilliance feels exciting, not intimidating.

Continuous improvement is the norm

You'll constantly look for ways to improve how things are built, delivered and maintained. You'll push your peers, challenge the status quo and always focus on delivering maximum value for customers and the business.

What they're looking for

Your experience

You'll thrive here if you bring:

  • Proven full stack development experience across multiple languages, tools and techniques.
  • Hands on background building front end applications. Experience with TypeScript and Next.js would be great
  • Real-world experience working in cloud-first environments and using IaC. Strong working knowledge AWS is essential, bonus points for experience in CDK or Serverless.
  • A mindset that leans toward automation: automated testing, CI/CD and DevOps tooling.
  • Excellent communication skills, both with technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mentality – someone who enjoys the challenge of balancing priorities and finding smart solutions.
  • A collaborative approach to working in cross-functional, product-led teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working and using planning tools.

Why this is a great role

You'll join a team that genuinely wants to build great software, not just ship features. You'll work closely with people who care about quality, value and learning. And most importantly, you'll have the chance to make a visible, meaningful impact every day.

If you're a Senior Software Engineer looking for a place where you can grow, influence, deliver and actually enjoy the journey, this is the one to hit apply on.
