Technical Project Manager (Business Central)

6 Month Contract (£600-700 p/d)

Hybrid (some office travel to Coleshill, West Midlands)

The Finance Module Microsoft Business Central Project Manager is responsible for leading the implementation, customization, and optimization of the financial aspects of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The role focuses on managing ERP projects specifically within the finance module, ensuring seamless integration with business processes and compliance with accounting standards. This position involves working closely with finance teams, stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver high-quality financial solutions on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Financial Module Focus:

Define project scope, deliverables, and timelines for the finance module within Microsoft Business Central.

Collaborate with finance stakeholders and business analysts to prioritise financial business requirements captured

Develop and manage detailed project plans focused on financial functionalities, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting.

ERP Implementation & Finance Customization:

Lead the configuration, customization, and implementation of the finance module in Microsoft Business Central.

Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations and standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).

Oversee data migration, financial reporting, and chart of accounts setup.

Integrate the finance module with other Business Central modules, such as sales, purchasing, and inventory.

Stakeholder & Team Management:

Work closely with finance departments, CFOs, and financial controllers to understand and translate business needs into technical solutions.

Collaborate with IT teams to ensure proper system integration and data flow between finance and other business modules.

Act as a key liaison between finance stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring all project activities are aligned with financial goals.

Risk & Compliance Management:

Identify financial risks, including regulatory compliance issues, and develop mitigation strategies.

Ensure financial data security, privacy, and compliance throughout the implementation process.

Monitor project risks and issues specifically related to financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting.

Change Management

Lead the finance-related change management activities to ensure smooth transition to the ERP system, including process changes, and system adoption.

Work with the Change management team to highlight and identify potential resistance points and develop proactive solutions to successfully manage and support the Finance teams while working through this business change

Testing & Quality Assurance:

Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) for financial processes to validate that the system meets accounting and financial reporting requirements.

Ensure the finance module delivers accurate and reliable financial data to support decision-making.

Training & Go-Live Support:

Provide training to finance teams on how to use the finance module, including day-to-day financial operations, month-end/year-end processes, and financial reporting tools.

Oversee go-live activities, including post-go-live support and troubleshooting related to financial transactions and reports.

Financial Reporting & Optimization:

Ensure the accurate setup and customization of financial reports (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow) according to business needs.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and financial reporting enhancements using Business

Central functionalities.

Key Qualifications:

ERP & Finance Expertise:

Strong understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, particularly the finance module, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, fixed assets, and financial reporting.

Experience in ERP financial systems and full-cycle implementations from discovery to go-live, focusing on finance functionalities.

Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance (GAAP, IFRS).

Project Management Skills:

Proven experience managing ERP projects focused on financial modules.

Strong knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.

Ability to manage multiple finance-focused ERP projects simultaneously while ensuring quality delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Experience with third-party financial add-ons or integrations in Microsoft Business Central.

Familiarity with financial analysis tools such as Power BI for enhanced financial reporting and data visualization.

Education & Experience:

5+ years of project management experience in finance and ERP implementations.

3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, focusing on the finance module.
