About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially astute Investment Analyst to join our client's Venture Capital team in London. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in evaluating early-stage investment opportunities, supporting portfolio management activities, and driving research across high-growth technology and innovation-led sectors. This position offers significant exposure to founders, investors, fund partners, and strategic stakeholders, providing an excellent platform for professional development within the VC ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Investment & Deal Sourcing
- Identify and evaluate investment opportunities through market mapping, networking, inbound deal flow and ecosystem engagement.
- Conduct financial modelling, valuation analysis and sensitivity assessments to support investment decision-making.
- Prepare investment memos, pitch decks, and due diligence materials for internal review and IC presentations.
Due Diligence & Market Research
- Undertake detailed market research, competitor analysis, and trend forecasting across priority verticals.
- Perform commercial, financial, operational and strategic due diligence on potential investments.
- Engage with founders, industry experts, and sector specialists to validate assumptions and growth drivers.
Portfolio Support & Monitoring
- Monitor financial and operational performance of portfolio companies, identifying risks, opportunities, and value-creation levers.
- Support portfolio founders with strategic planning, fundraising, KPI analysis, and market expansion insights.
- Assist in exit planning, fundraising rounds, and scenario modelling.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with senior partners, associates and cross-functional teams to develop investment theses.
- Prepare internal reports, dashboards, and portfolio performance summaries for senior stakeholders.
- Represent the firm at industry events, demo days, conferences, and accelerator programmes.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8 to 10 years of relevant experience within venture capital firm.
- Strong financial modelling capabilities, including valuation, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
- Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to evaluation.
- Strong understanding of early-stage business models, technology innovation, and venture market dynamics.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information into clear investment recommendations.
- Proficiency in Excel, financial modelling tools, market databases and presentation software (PowerPoint, Pitch, etc.).
- Ability to engage confidently with founders, stakeholders, and external advisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related analytical field.
- Experience working with high-growth startups, accelerators, or emerging technology sectors.
- Familiarity with UK/EU regulatory ecosystems, venture funding structures, and term sheet negotiation.
