Role: AWS Infrastructure Architect
Location: Coventry, UK
Hybrid (inside IR35)
Contract position (6months +)
Role description:
We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Infrastructure Architect with deep expertise/experience in landing Zone creation, cloud best practices, and industry frameworks to help review the design and implementation of an AWS set up for of a scalable, secure, and resilient data platform
Key responsibilities:
- Review the design and implementation of an AWS Landing Zones ensuring multi-account governance, security, and compliance.
- Review architecture and deployment of a cloud-native data platforms leveraging AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Redshift, Athena, and EMR.
- Review design for cloud infrastructure best practices, including IAM policies, network segmentation, logging, and monitoring.
- Align architecture with industry frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and Well-Architected Framework, ensuring regulatory compliance (eg, ISO 27001, GDPR).
- Future proof AWS environment design and set up for infrastructure automation efforts using Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
- Provide technical leadership and be part of the architectural governance forums.
- Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and performance optimization for cloud workloads
Key skills/knowledge/experience:
- 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure architecture, with at least 5 years on AWS.
- Proven experience in Landing Zone creation using AWS Control Tower or custom frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data platform architecture and data governance in utility sectors.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CDK.
- Familiarity with utility industry standards and operational models (eg, SCADA integration, asset management systems).
- Expertise in networking, security, and identity management in AWS.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or equivalent certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
