OT Cybersecurity Engineer


Our client, a leading firm in the cyber security sector, is currently seeking an OT Cybersecurity Engineer to join their dynamic team. This permanent position is focused within the energy industry, playing a crucial role in ensuring the secure development and implementation of cybersecurity policies, processes, and controls for Operational Technologies (OT).



Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Threat and Risk Assessment process for client products, solutions, and services.
  • Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments for OT components within solutions and services.
  • Provide secure design and architecture support for OT projects following Purdue Model principles (Levels 0-3).
  • Contribute to security baselines, code-signing processes, and secure boot architecture for OT metering and embedded systems.
  • Analyse firmware vulnerabilities using appropriate tools without impacting operational availability.
  • Support security testing throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring security factory acceptance tests are undertaken.
  • Integrate OT asset visibility and threat detection platforms.
  • Maintain compliance with energy sector regulations and frameworks, including ISA/IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82, and others.
  • Provide procedural and technical cybersecurity advice to project designers, engineers, and testers.
  • Monitor and report on cybersecurity target achievements and proactively suggest improvements.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in cybersecurity with exposure to Operational Technology (OT), ICS, or SCADA utility environments.
  • Working knowledge of core OT security principles, technologies, and processes, including ISA/IEC 62443 framework.
  • Understanding of firmware and hardware security concepts, including cryptographic signing and hardware security modules (HSMs).
  • Familiarity with sector-specific protocols such as DNP3, IEC (phone number removed)-104, Modbus, and OPC UA.
  • Skills in problem-solving, analytical abilities, and strong organisational skills.
  • Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443 Specialist, or GRID are desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively and responsibly without close supervision, supporting a collaborative team environment.
