About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Linux Specialist to join our infrastructure and systems team in London. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Linux system administration and engineering, with a focus on performance, security, automation, and high availability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, configure, and maintain enterprise-level Linux environments (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues and provide Tier 2/3 support for Linux servers.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
• Ensure system security through hardening, patching, and compliance monitoring.
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement optimization strategies.
• Support virtualization (VMware/KVM) and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Document system processes, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with Linux system administration in enterprise environments.
• Strong command-line proficiency and deep understanding of the Linux operating system.
• Proven experience in scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl) and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef).
• Solid understanding of networking, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
• Familiarity with backup and recovery processes.

Desirable:

• Linux certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC) are highly desirable.
• Experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes.
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform) is a plus.
