Essential Skills & Experience
- 5+ years cloud architecture experience; 2+ years hands-on AWS migrations.
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of AWS landing zone concepts and core AWS services including S3, VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, AWS Config, EC2, RDS, Lambda, ECS, EKS, and core networking/security services.
- Experience assessing Legacy applications and translating current-state findings into target-state architecture, migration patterns, and operating model requirements.
- Experience designing application landing patterns across AWS compute, storage, networking, identity, data, integration, observability, backup, and support services.
- Experience with Terraform/CloudFormation and migration tooling (MGN, DMS).
- Experience producing application assessment packs, as-is and to-be architecture artefacts, migration roadmaps, architecture decision records, transition-state designs, and operational handover documentation.
- Scripting ability (Python/Bash).
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills.
- Multi-cloud background (Azure/GCP).
- Experience in regulated industries.
- CI/CD pipeline design experience.
- Experience with Kubernetes platform tooling such as Argo CD, Flux, Istio, External Secrets, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
- Prior Legacy-to-cloud migration in a large enterprise environment.
AWS Application Migration Architect - SC cleared to assess Legacy applications and define how they will land, run, and operate on a new core AWS cloud platform. The role focuses on understanding each application's current architecture, dependencies, data flows, security requirements, operational model, and migration constraints, then shaping the right target-state design using the AWS landing zone and foundational AWS services such as S3, VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, networking, security, logging, monitoring, and governance.
As the architect, you will translate as-is application understanding into clear landing patterns, target-state architecture, migration decisions, integration designs, resilience requirements, security controls, and operating model requirements for the core cloud platform. Amazon EKS may be used where applications require a managed Kubernetes runtime, but the primary focus is application assessment and target landing design across the AWS platform.
