EPR Medicines Management Workstream Lead

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated professional to lead the Medicines Management workstream within our Oracle Millennium EPR programme. Working closely with pharmacy teams, clinicians, system administrators and key stakeholders, you will ensure the successful design, implementation and adoption of digital medicines management processes.

You will lead business change activities, manage risks and governance requirements, support system optimisation and benefits realisation, and act as the key point of contact for the workstream. The Medicines Management Workstream Lead will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of the EPR programme within their designated team, with a strong focus on business change and digital transformation. This role requires a deep understanding of the clinical environment, robust IT skills, and extensive knowledge of patient systems.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Lead and manage the medicines management workstream from initiation to completion, ensuring efficient engagement, prioritisation of tasks, and direction of the workstream team to deliver outcomes in line with planned timescales.

Ensure the configuration of the system aligns to, and supports, future state process.

To work alongside Systems Administrators and support staff to understand clinical and operational workflows, both within the pharmacy and medicines management focus area, and holistically as part of wider hospital workflows.

Develop and implement business change strategies to ensure smooth transitions and adoption of the new system, and its associated processes, within the clinical and technical environment.

Report, manage, and escalate clinical, operational and programme issues, risks and decisions through the relevant governance structures, informing Pharmacy colleagues in the event of a business-as-usual risk.

Act as the initial contact point for the workstream, collaborating with key stakeholders, including clinicians, IT professionals, and external organisations, to gather requirements, provide updates, and address concerns.

Monitor programme performance and provide regular reports to senior management, and other key stakeholders, on progress.

Receive and interpret complex and sensitive information from senior Programme team members.

Where necessary, support in facilitating system adoption and benefits realisation. This will include dress rehearsals, floor walking and optimisation during and post go-live

Document, communicate, and apply lessons learnt during implementation and through engagement with other users of the Oracle Millennium EPR

Work closely with business-as-usual clinical safety, medicines safety and commissioning teams (including Drug and therapeutics and Medicines Safety Committees) to ensure there is a strong link between existing governance processes and those being developed in the EPR programme.

Person Specification

What we are looking for in our people

Essential
  • In-depth knowledge of patient systems and medicines management clinical workflows.
  • Excellent IT skills, including experience with system integration and software implementation.
  • High attention to detail, including production of plans and writing reports.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines.

Experience

Essential
  • Significant, recent experience working within a configuration role
  • Oracle Millennium experience in a workstream lead role, ideally including experience of convergence programmes
  • Extensive experience in IT system delivery, with a strong understanding of the importance of business change management principles.
  • Experience in a change management role.

Qualifications

Desirable
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
  • GPhC (GB) registration
