Were looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team and lead the delivery of complex digital programmes across acute, community, and primary care settings.
Youll play a key role in supporting major system priorities working across organisational boundaries to implement solutions that deliver real, measurable impact for services and patients.

Main duties of the job
Deliver complex digital projects to agreed time, quality, and scope, maintaining control of delivery plans and milestones.
Support achievement of defined benefits and outcomes, contributing to value and service improvement.
Operate within effective governance frameworks, ensuring clear reporting, risks, and escalation.
Maintain delivery momentum, identifying and addressing risks, issues, and dependencies.
Build strong stakeholder relationships, engaging clinical, operational, and technical teams to support delivery.
Ensure clear and consistent communication, tailored to stakeholders and governance groups.
Apply PMO standards and project management best practice across all workstreams.
Support adoption and change, working with stakeholders to embed new ways of working.
Monitor and report on project performance, taking corrective action where required.
Contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery practices within the organisation.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Workstream / Project Management
Lead the successful delivery of designated digital transformation projects.
Establish and maintain appropriate project management frameworks to support structured delivery.
Develop and maintain clear, comprehensive project plans with defined milestones, ownership, and dependencies.
Monitor and report on progress, ensuring delivery remains on track.
Manage risks and issues within a structured framework, ensuring timely mitigation and escalation where required.
Resolve delivery challenges and escalate appropriately to Project Boards or governance groups when necessary.
Prepare Project Briefs and Project Initiation Documents (PIDs) in collaboration with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders.
Secure appropriate approvals and authority to proceed with project delivery.
Plan and manage workstream delivery using agreed organisational tools and standards.
Strategy
Ensure project delivery aligns with organisational priorities, service improvement programmes, and wider NHS context.
Deliver solutions within the context of broader transformation programmes (including EPR and service change initiatives).
Contribute to the development of business cases and funding bids where required.
Identify opportunities for digital innovation and improvement that support programme objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement, Communication & Change
Develop and deliver effective communication and engagement plans tailored to a wide range of stakeholders.
Work collaboratively with clinical, operational, technical, and supplier stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
Liaise with Training and Change teams to ensure change management and training approaches align with project needs.
Build strong relationships to ensure shared understanding of problems, solutions, and benefits.
Delivery Assurance & Quality
Ensure appropriate testing (including user acceptance testing) is planned and delivered in line with project timelines.
Support benefits realisation by ensuring clear definition and tracking of outcomes.
Maintain high standards of documentation, governance, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Policies and Standards
Apply recognised project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent) proportionately to project delivery.
Adhere to Innovate PMO standards, governance processes, and best practice guidance.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams, often without direct line management authority.
Provide direction, support, and motivation to ensure delivery objectives are achieved.
Line manage and support the development of Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers where required.
Deputise for senior colleagues on project-related matters as needed.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- PRINCE2 qualification or equivalent.

- Experience working with NHS clinical systems.
