Senior Systems & Test Integration Engineer
Principal/Senior Systems Integration & Test Engineer Bristol | Up to £50,000 DOE | Hybrid (3-5 days on-site)

Our client, a leading name in the defence sector, is looking for a Principal Systems Integration & Test Engineer to join their growing Integration and Systems Validation team, supporting a major export programme within the Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) domain.
The Role: A varied role combining functional testing, equipment qualification and acceptance, and problem identification and resolution. You'll get hands-on experience with real equipment, supporting testing and capability demonstrations for the end customer across sites in the UK, Poland and the USA, while working alongside external stakeholders to deliver the wider weapon system.
We're looking for a broad-based Systems Integration & Test Engineer who can:
- Work with stakeholders across the project - including partner companies and the customer community - to plan trials that demonstrate integration and gather evidence to qualify weapon systems into a wider System of Systems environment
- Liaise with systems engineering and design teams to ensure adequate trials data is acquired, and to investigate and resolve design issues
- Deliver in-depth analysis and reporting on system behaviour across internal and external interfaces
- Deliver trials across a number of environments, including:
- Lab-based integration and functional rigs
- System of Systems integration trials
- Acceptance trials
- Firing trials
- Conduct and support failure investigations
- Support safe and reliable trials, including developing and maintaining risk assessments, and managing hardware/software assets and configuration control
This is a UK-based role with opportunities to travel abroad, offering fast-paced, customer-facing work within an expanding team delivering key aspects of a next-generation GBAD programme, with direct interface into the end customer and user community.
What we're looking for:
Essential:
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience communicating at an appropriate level with a wide range of engineering and management stakeholders
- Experience working within a large team, across multiple sites and departments
- Experience with the V&V lifecycle, requirements and configuration management, and defect reporting
Desirable (training available):
- Wireshark or similar network monitoring tool usage
- Network systems and protocols, including switch/router configuration and management
- DOORS and Engineering Test Management (ETM) requirements tools
- Basic understanding of network/cable assembly drawings
- Fault finding and root cause analysis at subsystem integration level
- Experience in customer-facing roles
