Utilities Industry Specialist (IoT Connectivity)

Utilities Sector Specialist (IoT / Connectivity)

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a high-growth, international technology business operating at the forefront of IoT connectivity.

They don’t sell directly to end customers. Instead, they power some of the world’s leading enterprise IoT providers, enabling critical infrastructure, systems monitoring, and real-time data solutions.

As they continue to expand their footprint in the utilities space, they are looking for a true sector specialist to help shape their go-to-market strategy, strengthen industry credibility, and unlock new opportunities across the UK utilities landscape.

This is not a traditional sales role.

It is a sector leadership position for someone who lives and breathes utilities, understands the regulatory and operational challenges, and can translate that expertise into meaningful commercial impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Act as the utilities subject matter expert across the business, with a strong focus on water, but exposure to broader utilities welcomed
  • Build and leverage your industry network/knowledge to open doors and create new opportunities
  • Engage senior stakeholders across utility providers, partners, and industry bodies
  • Identify real-world challenges, for example asset monitoring, leak detection, system resilience, and help shape how solutions are positioned
  • Work closely with product and marketing teams to refine messaging, use cases, and sector narratives
  • Contribute to thought leadership, case studies, and industry-facing content
  • Represent the business at industry events, forums, and trade associations
  • Support the creation of a clear, targeted utilities go-to-market strategy

What They’re Looking For

This role is all about credibility and expertise.

You could come from a commercial, consulting, or operational background, but what matters most is your depth of experience in utilities.

  • Deep knowledge of the UK utilities sector, ideally water-focused
  • Strong understanding of regulation, stakeholders, and market dynamics
  • Established industry network and ability to engage senior decision-makers
  • Experience participating in or contributing to industry forums, boards, or associations
  • Ability to translate complex sector challenges into clear, compelling solutions
  • Commercial mindset, whether through sales, partnerships, or consultancy
  • Confidence to influence internally and externally as a trusted voice in the sector

Exposure to European utilities markets would be advantageous but not essential.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Opportunity to shape a sector strategy, not just deliver against one
  • Work with cutting-edge IoT solutions impacting critical national infrastructure
  • Highly visible role with influence across product, marketing, and commercial teams
  • Backed by a fast-growing, international organisation with strong investment
