Technical Services Manager
An exciting opportunity has emerged with one of our trusted clients, a leading facilities management provider delivering high-impact services across a major healthcare PFI contract. We are seeking an experienced Technical Services Manager to lead hard FM operations at a significant hospital estate in Southwest London.
The Role
Reporting to the Site Business Director, the Technical Services Manager will be responsible for overseeing all hard FM services across the site, including PPMs, reactive maintenance, project delivery, and lifecycle works. This is a critical leadership role with full commercial responsibility, requiring a blend of operational insight and strategic vision.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing hard FM delivery across complex building environments, ensuring compliance and safety.
- Leading the engineering team and managing subcontractors to deliver top-tier service.
- Ensuring statutory obligations, client KPIs, and SLAs are consistently met or exceeded.
- Engaging proactively with client stakeholders and partners to maintain strong relationships.
- Driving cost efficiency and managing financial performance against budget targets.
- Overseeing audits, reporting, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Supporting project works from planning through to delivery and closeout.
- Participating in out-of-hours support and incident response as needed.
About You
You’ll be an experienced FM professional with a strong technical background, ideally from within the healthcare or PFI sectors.
Essential:
- Proven experience in hard FM management within large-scale estates, NHS, or clinical settings.
- Strong leadership skills and a collaborative, coaching approach with teams.
- PFI contract experience and familiarity with CDM regulations.
- A sound understanding of compliance, statutory obligations, and H&S legislation.
- Financially astute with the ability to manage budgets and supplier contracts.
- Technically knowledgeable with the credibility to engage with engineers and suppliers.
- IT literate, ideally familiar with CAFM systems and ISO standards.
- Willingness to participate in emergency response and on-call rota.
Desirable:
- HNC/ONC in Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
- NEBOSH or relevant H&S qualification.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IWFM, CIBSE).
- PFI contract experience and familiarity with CDM regulations.
