Network Engineer
Insight Global is seeking two Network Engineers to support network design, implementation, and M&A integration initiatives across the UK and Europe for a global client. These engineers will play a critical role in assessing acquired companies’ existing networks and leading the design and migration to the companies standard Cisco-based network architecture. This role is highly project-focused, requiring strong technical expertise, the ability to work independently across time zones, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, including
cybersecurity and infrastructure stakeholders.
The position is a long term Inside IR35 contract role and sits primarily remote, with travel required for on-site implementations, rack/stack, and configuration activities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise network solutions for acquired companies and new
- construction projects
- Develop detailed network designs and migration plans to transition legacy environments to the companies Cisco network standards
- Assess existing network environments and gather requirements across related technology domains (e.g., AD, DNS, DHCP, voice, applications)
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to review designs and obtain security approvals
- Interface directly with IT teams from acquired companies to understand requirements, ask the
- right technical questions, and ensure successful integrations
- Execute on-site activities as needed, including rack/stack, device configuration, and cutovers
- Work independently while aligning with a Network Manager whose primary focus is operations
- support multiple concurrent projects with a strong focus on delivery, quality, and timelines
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience as a Network Engineer, with a strong focus on M&A integrations, network refreshes, and construction projects
- Demonstrated expertise in Cisco switching (design and implementation) as well as Cisco and/or Aruba wireless design and deployment.
- Working knowledge of firewalls, load balancers, and voice technologies to support complex enterprise network environments.
- Broad infrastructure awareness with the ability to collaborate effectively across domains including Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and voice and application team
- Proven ability to independently design networks and develop migration strategies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently across a ~6-hour time difference
- Experience working in project-focused environments with minimal day-to-day operational
