A dedicated security resource responsible for maintaining, testing, and enhancing network security through expert design, configuration, and validation of critical infrastructure components. This role focuses on implementing secure network architectures, managing firewalls and access controls, and applying Zero Trust principles to ensure segmentation and resilience across environments. The position plays a key role in vulnerability assessment and backup recovery testing to validate operational readiness and compliance with disaster recovery objectives. Working closely with infrastructure and application teams, this role ensures security measures are practical and effective protecting data, maintaining availability, and supporting business continuity through thorough testing and proactive threat mitigation.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures, including VLANs, VPNs, TCP/IP configurations, DMZ environments, NAC solutions, routers, and gateways.
• Configure and manage firewalls, perform rule assessments, and apply segmentation and zoning strategies aligned with Zero Trust principles.
• Utilise network monitoring and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to identify and respond to potential security threats.
• Conduct OS-level hardening across server environments to minimising vulnerabilities
• Strengthen virtualisation and hypervisor environments by applying security best practices.
• Oversee and test backup and recovery processes—including full, incremental, and differential backups—to ensure data integrity, RPO/RTO alignment, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Implement and maintain robust application and database security controls to safeguard sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access.
• Develop and maintain threat models and security architecture designs to identify potential risks and inform mitigation strategies.
