Senior Firewall Engineer

Senior Firewall Engineer - Canary Wharf Based - Hybrid - Up-To £75,000 DOE
We are on the hunt for a technically skilled and confident individual with a strong background within Firewall Engineering to join a growing MSSP and act as a Senior Engineer and Mentor within their Firewall team.
In this role you'll be working with teams across the business as well as on the client end in order to design and implement comprehensive firewall solutions based on client needs and infrastructure.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design and implementation of firewall solutions based on the organization's security requirements including the evaluation of appropriate firewall technologies and products
  • Develop and enforce firewall policies to control network traffic and ensure security compliance
  • Regularly review and update firewall rule sets to adapt to changing security needs
  • Monitor firewall logs, investigate, and analyse security breaches to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Conduct regular network security audits to assess the effectiveness of current firewall configurations
  • Identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements to enhance overall network security
  • Work closely with other IT teams to integrate firewall solutions into the overall network architecture
  • Provide technical expertise and support to help troubleshoot network security issues
  • Create and maintain network security documentation, firewall configurations, policies, and procedures for reference and training purposes
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Proficiency
    • In-depth knowledge of firewall technologies and products (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet)
    • Understanding of network protocols, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems
  • Relevant certifications in specific Firewall vendors
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network security issues
  • Experience in assessing and mitigating security risks
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey security concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills to analyse security incidents and make informed decisions
  • Ability to manage and lead firewall-related projects
