Senior Business Analyst

The Bank of England is looking for experienced Business Analysts to support a diverse portfolio of technology transformation initiatives, helping modernise the platforms, systems and services that underpin one of the UK's most important institutions. Hybrid working from Leeds. Salary up to £70k inclusive of allowances, plus a non-contributory pension. 21-month FTC to begin with.

Role Overview

Business Analysts at the Bank work across technology change initiatives, helping teams understand requirements, improve processes and successfully deliver change. Working as part of cross-functional teams, you'll collaborate closely with both business and technology stakeholders to support the delivery of complex transformation projects.

You will be joining the Central Services Tower, supporting the Bank's Technology Modernisation portfolio. The team delivers a wide range of technology-led change initiatives focused on upgrading, replacing and modernising critical technology platforms that support the Bank's operations.

With multiple active projects across multiple workstreams, you'll work on initiatives ranging from application upgrades and cloud technologies through to data migration, platform modernisation, AI tooling, user-facing technology improvements and wider infrastructure change. The role sits at the intersection of business and technology, ensuring user requirements are understood and translated into solutions that enable successful delivery of technology transformation.

As a Business Analyst within the Bank, typical role responsibilities include:

  • Requirements gathering and process engineering analysis to ensure appropriate solutions are identified and designed to deliver the right business outcomes.
  • Producing outputs at different levels, from high-level process flows through to detailed functional specifications, to a high standard.
  • Providing both functional and technical expertise to technology teams through requirements documentation, process maps, use cases, wireframes and logical data models.
  • Facilitating workshops and working closely with business and technical stakeholders throughout delivery.

About You

Ideally, you will be someone with strong Business Analysis experience and a background working on technology-led change. You may have supported large-scale upgrade or migration programmes, including system or data migration, and be comfortable working closely with technical teams to understand and document requirements that support delivery.

Whilst not essential, experience supporting SharePoint migration projects, including content mapping, user acceptance testing and stakeholder engagement, would be beneficial.

You should be comfortable working across multiple projects and adapting to changing priorities, with a practical, hands-on approach to analysis. You will have strong stakeholder skills but be equally comfortable operating in more technically driven environments, supporting activities such as operational readiness, system transition and ensuring business continuity during change.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven Business Analysis experience supporting technology-led change programmes, including system upgrades, migrations, platform modernisation or application transformation initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, requirements elicitation and workshop facilitation skills, with the ability to build relationships across business and technical teams.
  • Experience producing high-quality BA artefacts, including requirements documentation, user stories, process maps and business process models using BPMN 2.0.
  • Ability to analyse business problems, identify underlying requirements and translate these into clearly articulated solutions for delivery teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience supporting data migration, data analysis, data modelling or data-focused transformation initiatives.
  • Experience supporting SharePoint migration projects, including content mapping, UAT or stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working within large regulated environments, government or similar sectors.

Benefits

In addition to the base salary, you can expect planned, transparent progression with learning and development tailored to your role, alongside a culture that encourages inclusion and diversity. Benefits include:

  • A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through the flexible benefits programme each year.
  • An annual discretionary performance award based on a current award pool (10%-25%).
  • An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
  • 25 days annual leave with the option to buy up to 13 additional days through flexible benefits.
  • Private medical insurance and income protection.
  • Dental cover.
  • Interest-free season ticket loan.

The Bank takes pride in its people, with backgrounds and experiences as diverse as the solutions they provide. You'll enjoy flexible working opportunities, a strong sense of community and wellbeing, and a collective mission to promote the good of the people of the UK. All of which add up to make the Bank a hugely rewarding place to work.
