SQL Developer (Snowflake)

Company Description

Our client works with consumer goods companies to optimize their data sources, drive growth, and deliver actionable insights. Their technology platform, ClearView, is tailored for Consumer Goods professionals, offering flexibility and scalability. We collaborate closely with clients to achieve their desired results, covering Retail, Out of Home, E-Commerce, and Field Sales.

This is a Remote role with a few in-person meetings in shared co-working spaces on an ad hoc basis.

Role Description

We are looking for an SQL Developer (Snowflake), specializing in data modelling, ETL processes, and cloud-based data solutions. This position requires expertise in Snowflake, Azure, Python and Power BI, with a strong focus on building semantic models and supporting analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimise complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures in Snowflake.
  • Design and maintain efficient ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data integration platforms.
  • Create and manage Python-based stored procedures in Snowflake to support advanced transformations and automation.
  • Build and maintain Power BI datasets, data models, and semantic models to support business intelligence needs.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and performance across environments.
  • Monitor and tune Snowflake performance, storage, and compute usage.
  • Implement best practices in data modelling, schema design, and cloud architecture.
  • Collaborate on CI/CD and automation initiatives for data deployments.
  • Maintain technical documentation for processes, pipelines, models, and reports.

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience as a SQL Developer or Data Engineer with a strong command of SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake cloud data warehouse.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimising Python code, especially within Snowflake stored procedures.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud platforms for data integration, such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar tools.
  • Experience in Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, and managing semantic models.
  • Good understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and ELT best practices.
  • Knowledge of version control and Agile development methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in Data Engineering, with a focus on data modelling, ETL, and Snowflake.
  • Snowflake certification (e.g., SnowPro Core) is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in Snowflake for data warehousing, including semantic modelling and Python-based stored procedures.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and related Azure services.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI for creating and managing semantic models to enable business intelligence.
  • Advanced SQL skills, with expertise in query optimization and complex data transformations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Desirable: Experience working in retail domain and handing retail data models.
  • This role is ideal for a self-driven Data Engineer with strong expertise in Snowflake, Azure, Power BI, and Python, ready to support large-scale, retail-focused data initiatives.
