Principal Consultant, Cyber Advisory

Principal Consultant | Cyber Advisory (MDR)

A leading global professional services and advisory firm is seeking a Principal Consultant to join its rapidly expanding Cyber Advisory practice. This is a critical leadership hire for a technical heavyweight who has a proven track record of architecting, designing, and launching Managed Detection & Response services.

In this role, you will act as the bridge between high-level commercial strategy and deep-tier technical engineering. You aren't just selling a service; you are designing the engine that protects our clients' most critical assets.

The Ideal Profile

We are looking for a candidate who has lived the MSSP lifecycle. You likely come from a background in SOC Management or Lead Security Architecture and have successfully transitioned into a client-facing consulting role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service Architecture: Lead the end-to-end design of bespoke SOC/MDR and Managed Security solutions. You will define the technical service definitions, staffing models, and technology integrations for a diverse portfolio of enterprise clients.
  • Commercial Engineering: Collaborate with the Cyber Leadership team to develop pricing models and go-to-market strategies. You will ensure that technical designs are both cutting-edge and commercially sustainable.
  • Technical Credibility: Serve as the 'Design Authority' during the pre-sales and engagement phases. You must be able to navigate complex technical discussions with CISOs, SOC Managers, and Lead Architects.
  • Implementation Oversight: Provide strategic direction during the stand-up and implementation phases of the services you design, ensuring that the operational reality matches the promised commercial scope.
  • Strategic Innovation: Monitor the evolving threat landscape to integrate emerging technologies—such as SOAR, XDR, and automated detection engineering—into the firm's core service offerings.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • MSSP Foundations: You must have direct experience in scoping, designing, and implementing SOC services from the ground up within a professional service provider environment.
  • Deep Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with modern security operations stacks is essential. This includes deep knowledge of SIEM platforms, EDR/XDR solutions, and cloud security posture management.
  • Commercial Acumen: The ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear business outcomes and structured Statements of Work (SOW).
  • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence C-suite executives while maintaining the respect of deep-technical engineering teams.
  • Industry Standing: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, or advanced vendor certifications) are highly preferred.

Why Join This Practice?

The firm offers the stability and resources of a global powerhouse combined with the entrepreneurial spirit of a high-growth boutique. You will have a seat at the table in shaping the future of the managed services business, with the autonomy to innovate and the support of a world-class global network.
