Data Modeller – Financial Services

Overview

A leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Data Modeller to support a major data transformation programme. This role plays a key part in shaping high-quality, governed data products that underpin critical business functions including trading, risk, finance and operations. Based in Glasgow, this is a 6-month contract offering the opportunity to work within a complex, regulated environment and collaborate with senior stakeholders across business and technology teams.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual and logical data models for core financial services data domains, including Trade, Market Data, Instrument, Counterparty and Risk
  • Align all models to a common modelling language, naming conventions and reusable design patterns
  • Ensure data product models provide a clear and traceable link between business requirements and upstream authoritative data sources
  • Facilitate structured workshops and working sessions with SMEs across risk, finance, operations and data teams
  • Validate definitions, resolve inconsistencies and capture detailed modelling requirements
  • Define and embed modelling standards, metadata requirements and data quality controls aligned to enterprise data governance frameworks
  • Operate within a factory-style delivery model, producing multiple data product models concurrently in an iterative manner
  • Coordinate with onsite leadership and offshore teams to accelerate delivery and support effective knowledge transfer
  • Work closely with enterprise architects, data governance leads, solution designers and engineering teams to ensure models are clear, maintainable and fit for purpose

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience delivering conceptual and logical data models within financial services environments
  • Solid understanding of complex, regulated data domains
  • Hands-on experience with data modelling tools such as Hackolade and Erwin
  • Ability to translate business requirements into structured, enterprise-ready data models
  • Experience working in large, multi-stakeholder organisations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a data product, data mesh or domain-aligned data model
  • Familiarity with enterprise data governance and metadata frameworks
  • Experience collaborating with distributed or offshore delivery teams

Rates:

  • £450 - £550 PD (Inside IR35)
