Lead Business Analyst - Data & Transformation

 

About the Role

A leading Tier 1 Investment Bank is seeking an experienced Lead Business Analyst to join their high-profile transformation programme. This role sits within the IT department and will play a pivotal part in the replacement of the bank's General Ledger system.

 

You'll lead a small team of business analysts, drive data-focused analysis and solution design, and partner closely with senior stakeholders across technology and finance functions to deliver strategic change.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of business analysts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality analysis artefacts and documentation.
  • Coordinate IT development activities and issues, supporting a major finance transformation initiative.
  • Facilitate workshops and requirement-gathering sessions, ensuring clear, prioritised, and actionable user stories.
  • Contribute to backlog refinement, sprint planning, and alignment with broader programme objectives.
  • Perform complex data mapping, transformation, and analysis across large, multifaceted datasets.
  • Design and document data flows, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with governance standards.
  • Produce process maps, data models, and acceptance criteria to support delivery.
  • Communicate progress, insights, and risks effectively to senior stakeholders.

 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Extensive experience as a Business Analyst, including recent work in a lead or senior capacity within large transformation programmes.
  • Strong data analysis and modelling skills, with advanced proficiency in SQL (SQL Server & Oracle) and Excel.
  • Proven experience with data governance, data quality, and data management best practices.
  • Experience across multiple asset classes (e.g. FX, ETD, Bonds, Credit Products).
  • Exposure to General Ledger or finance system migration projects highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile frameworks (Jira, Confluence).
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving environment.

 

Package:

  • Initial 6 month contract
  • £700 p/day inside IR35
  • Hybrid (2x week in London)
