Senior Product Owner

We are thrilled to be working with a global provider of data backup, disaster recovery, and cyber resiliency managed services, delivering enterprise-grade protection against data loss, ransomware, and downtime. Operating across global data centres, they provide 24/7/365 expert support, scalable consumption-based models, and advanced monitoring and reporting capabilities.

They are seeking a highly driven and commercially minded Senior Product Owner to play a critical leadership role within their product and engineering function. This individual will own a key strategic product area, drive roadmap execution, and ensure structured delivery through disciplined backlog management, documentation standards, and cross-functional collaboration.

This is not a passive product role. The successful candidate must be confident managing and challenging development teams, pushing back when necessary, and leading difficult or complex conversations to ensure delivery standards, timelines, and commercial outcomes are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver the product roadmap, aligning strategy with business objectives and customer needs
  • Manage and prioritise a structured product backlog, ensuring disciplined use of ticketing systems and clear acceptance criteria
  • Lead Agile ceremonies and drive transparent, accountable sprint delivery
  • Act as the bridge between business stakeholders and development, confidently managing scope, trade-offs, and difficult conversations where required
  • Hold the development team accountable for quality, timelines, and commercial outcomes
  • Define detailed requirements and validate deliverables in partnership with QA before release
  • Maintain high standards of product documentation, specifications, process flows, and internal enablement materials
  • Analyse performance, customer feedback, and market trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or Senior Product Owner
  • Strong experience working with development teams in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Demonstrable experience managing structured backlogs and ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Confident leading challenging conversations and pushing back where required
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make commercially sound decisions
  • Strong documentation capability — able to produce detailed, clear, and structured product artefacts
  • Experience defining requirements, writing user stories, and establishing acceptance criteria
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
  • Experience within data protection, backup, SaaS, or cybersecurity environments advantageous but not essential
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical or business discipline

Working Arrangement

  • Hybrid role – Remote with 2 days per week in the Leeds office
  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role
