Contract Product Manager Inside IR35 - Central Government
Location: Fully remote - You must be UK based Duration: 5 months (with potential extension)Day Rate: £425–£450 per day (Inside IR35)Start Date: ASAP
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Contract Product Manager to join a high-profile Central Government department delivering key digital transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will lead product strategy and delivery across complex public sector digital services, working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
This role requires a proven track record in UK Central Government, with a deep understanding of public sector delivery frameworks, user-centred design, and cross-functional collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities-
Define and own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog, ensuring alignment with strategic departmental objectives.

Lead discovery, alpha, beta, and live phases in line with GDS (Government Digital Service) standards.

Translate user needs and policy requirements into clear product deliverables and outcomes.

Collaborate with Service Designers, Delivery Managers, Business Analysts, and Technical Leads to ensure successful end-to-end delivery.

Manage stakeholder relationships across multiple teams and agencies, balancing user needs with policy and technical constraints.

Use data and research to inform product decisions, prioritisation, and continuous improvement.

Prepare and present products for GDS service assessments, ensuring compliance with GDS Service Standards and Technology Code of Practice.

Proven Central Government experience delivering digital services within departments such as DWP, HMRC, Home Office, Cabinet Office, DEFRA, or equivalent.

Strong understanding of GDS principles, agile delivery frameworks, and product lifecycle management in the public sector.

Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder landscapes and communicate effectively with senior civil servants and delivery partners.

Experience in roadmapping, backlog management, and prioritisation in multi-supplier environments.

Ability to make evidence-based decisions using data, research insights, and user feedback.

Excellent leadership, facilitation, and communication skills.

Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain.

Experience with policy-driven product development or multi-agency service delivery.

Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Miro.
