Are you our new Software Engineer?

We’re seeking a Software Engineer to join one of our engineering teams, where you will contribute to a variety of services and both ongoing and upcoming projects. Your role will be based at any of our locations in Surrey, Manchester or Glasgow, with the flexibility of hybrid working.

As a Software Engineer, you'll drive the development of new modular services crucial to our business, operating in a dynamic environment geared towards swift, high-quality delivery. Our development practices, including peer reviews, automated testing, and lean controls, ensure excellence. Your role will be pivotal in accelerating one of the teams on our AWS and CI/CD journey forward, cultivating a robust DevOps culture through leadership, mentorship, and championing best practices and tools.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of key business services and capabilities.
  • Develop software, review code, analyse requirements and define technical implementation.
  • Support existing services, investigate incidents and bugs, develop fixes, and release them to production using defined processes and pipelines.
  • Mentor junior members of the team in grasping requirements, analysing technical aspects, and prioritising tasks.
  • Actively participate in R&D and innovation exercises around new technologies or tools.
  • Devoted to the FCA principle of Consumer Duty, by ensuring we are driving good customer outcomes across all aspects of services that have potential to impact our customers.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proficient in AWS services, especially API Gateways, AWS Lambdas, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS, Cognito, AWS Amplify.
  • Skilled in Python programming language in serverless environments like AWS Lambda.
  • Good experience with AWS IaC (CloudFormation) and CI/CD concepts (i.e. Azure Pipelines).
  • Experience with TDD concepts, unit testing, stubbing/mocking, contract testing etc.
  • Experience with tools and services like Git, SwaggerHub, Postman, SonarCloud.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate at a number of different levels.
  • Passionate about technology, clean code, automation, simplicity, clear requirements and failing fast.
