Job Title: Senior Technical Architect (Java & AWS)

Location: UK Hybrid working (1-2 days on client location - London)

Security Clearance: Must hold active SC Clearance

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Architect with deep expertise in Java and AWS to lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing enterprise solutions. This is a fully remote role within the UK, requiring active SC Clearance due to the nature of the projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of cloud-native solutions using Java and AWS.

  • Define and maintain architectural standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including product owners, engineering teams, and clients, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.

  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective.

  • Oversee system integration, API design, and microservices architecture.

  • Conduct architectural reviews and provide recommendations for improvements.

  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience as a Technical Architect or Senior Developer/Engineer in Java-based environments.

  • Strong expertise in AWS services (eg, EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, ECS/EKS).

  • Proven experience designing microservices and distributed systems.

  • Solid understanding of cloud architecture patterns and DevOps practices.

  • Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration patterns.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (eg, Terraform, CloudFormation).

  • Experience working in Agile environments.

Essential Requirements Active SC Clearance (mandatory).

  • UK-based with eligibility to work remotely.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to lead technical discussions and influence decision-making
