About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in modernising and strengthening a large-scale enterprise technology environment.
You'll be responsible for delivering infrastructure improvements across both on-premises and cloud platforms, helping to increase resilience, reduce technical debt, and support the transition to modern technology services. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while working across a broad infrastructure estate.
What You'll Be Doing
Infrastructure Transformation
- Deliver infrastructure upgrades, migrations and refresh programmes
- Support the transition of services into modern cloud environments
- Improve platform stability, performance and lifecycle management
- Assist with the retirement and consolidation of legacy technologies
- Drive initiatives focused on reducing operational and technical risk
Cloud & Platform Services
- Build, configure and maintain Microsoft Azure services
- Support hybrid infrastructure spanning cloud and on-premises environments
- Manage identity and access technologies including Active Directory and Entra ID
- Contribute to platform optimisation and automation initiatives
Resilience & Recovery
- Enhance backup and recovery capabilities across critical services
- Support disaster recovery planning and testing activities
- Help improve business continuity and operational resilience
- Validate recovery processes and documentation
Security & Governance
- Apply infrastructure security best practices and standards
- Support patching, hardening and vulnerability remediation activities
- Ensure solutions align with security and compliance requirements
- Contribute to governance, audit and operational assurance activities
Collaboration & Delivery
- Work closely with technical specialists, architects and operational teams
- Support infrastructure changes through testing and deployment phases
- Assist with service transition and operational readiness activities
- Engage with third-party suppliers where required
Documentation
- Maintain technical documentation and configuration records
- Produce implementation and support documentation
- Ensure accurate handover into operational support teams
What We're Looking For
Technical Skills
- Strong experience supporting Windows Server environments
- Good knowledge of Active Directory and Entra ID
- Hands-on Microsoft Azure experience
- Understanding of virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
- Experience with backup, monitoring and infrastructure management tools
Experience
