EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER (AUTOMOTIVE) – MIDLANDS AREA – 12 MONTHS+
My client, a company working in the Automotive industry, is currently searching for a FREELANCE Embedded Software Engineer to join their project working on components for the automotive industry,
Responsibilities
- Build and update firmware for prototype and production platforms aligned with OEM and global standards
- Create and maintain modular software blocks to support IP reuse across product lines
- Assist clients on‐site with configuration, calibration, debugging, and resolving software issues
- Perform validation, testing, and quality checks for assigned software components
- Collaborate within an agile team structure, managing tasks independently while adapting to project needs
- Follow established workflows and contribute to refining development and testing practices
Requirements
- Prior work in regulated sectors such as aerospace, automotive, or medical devices
- Strong command of C for safety‐critical systems and familiarity with MISRA standards
- Skilled with fixed‐point and floating‐point operations
- Experience with 32‐bit CPUs, FPUs, interrupts, peripherals, and real‐time coding
- Understanding of compilers, linkers, makefiles, and CI automation
- Hands‐on use of VFlash, CANalyzer, and Canoe
- Experience with AUTOSAR - device drivers, BSW, RTE, and ASW layers, especially using Vector MICROSAR and DaVinci
