Location: Hybrid - 60% office attendance (Manchester, Leeds or Birmingham)
Clearance: BPSS - must be eligible for SC
The Role:A major Central Government programme is seeking experienced Senior Java Developers to join a digital delivery team.
You will provide hands-on technical leadership across Java development, while mentoring other developers and helping to drive engineering standards and best practice across the team.
Experience & Requirements:- Strong commercial experience developing applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Extensive experience with AWS and cloud-based application development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
- Experience working with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases.
- Proven ability to lead technically and mentor junior/mid-level developers, providing guidance and conducting code reviews.
- Experience setting and promoting engineering standards, best practices and quality across development teams.
- Ability to work closely with architects, product owners and wider multidisciplinary teams to shape robust technical solutions.
- Strong experience delivering scalable and maintainable solutions within complex Agile environments.
- Government or large-scale digital service experience is desirable.
