AI Solutions Architect - LLMs & Python
This is not a role for someone who is AI-curious.
It is a role for someone who has built with it. Who has worked with large language models at a level beyond prompt engineering. Who can write Python, understands RAG pipelines, knows what fine-tuning involves and when it's the wrong answer, and can have a genuinely technical conversation with an engineering team without flinching.
And who can also walk into a boardroom and explain what it means for a business.
The opportunity
A firm deploying enterprise AI solutions — with a focus on financial services and regulated industries — is looking for an AI Solutions Architect based in Bristol. This is a hybrid presales and technical advisory role. You will work alongside the commercial team to design, articulate, and demonstrate AI-driven solutions to enterprise clients, while also contributing to technical architecture and proof-of-concept development.
This is not a pure sales role. It is not a pure engineering role. It is the rare seat where both sides of that conversation matter equally.
What this genuinely requires
Python. Not working knowledge. Genuine proficiency — you write it, you use it to build things, and you're comfortable in a code review.
Large language model experience. You have worked with LLMs in a practical, production or near-production context. You understand context windows, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, prompt chaining, and the operational challenges of deploying LLM-based systems in enterprise environments.
Client-facing experience. You have worked in a solutions engineering, pre-sales architecture, or technical consulting capacity and are comfortable presenting to non-technical senior stakeholders.
Financial services knowledge is a significant advantage — the firm's client base includes banks, asset managers, and insurers, and the ability to speak their language is genuinely valued.
You are based in Bristol or within commutable distance, or willing to relocate. This is a hybrid role with a meaningful on-site presence required.
This is not the right role if
— Your AI experience is conceptual — courses, certifications, and side projects — rather than professional and applied
— You cannot write Python to a production standard
— You have worked purely in backend engineering with no client-facing exposure
— You are looking for a fully remote arrangement or are not able to be based in Bristol

Enterprise AI adoption in financial services is past the hype cycle. The firms investing seriously are now asking harder questions — about security, explainability, integration, and ROI. The people who can answer those questions, technically and commercially, are extraordinarily rare.
